Rain Setup: How to Adjust the Car for a Wet Track

Rain Setup in F1 25

Rain changes everything. A setup that works in the dry can be disastrous in the rain.

Aerodynamics

Increase downforce significantly:

  • Front wing: +5 to +8 from the dry setup.
  • Rear wing: +5 to +8 from the dry setup.
  • More downforce = more mechanical grip.

Suspension

Softening the suspension helps:

  • Springs: -2 to -3 from the dry setup.
  • Anti-roll bars: -2 to -3.
  • Ride height: increase 1-2 points (to avoid aquaplaning).

Differential

  • On-throttle: 50% (lower than in the dry).
  • Off-throttle: 55%.
  • Lower values avoid wheelspin.

Driving

  1. Brake earlier and with less force.
  2. Accelerate gradually on corner exits.
  3. Avoid curbs – they are very slippery.
  4. Use the dry line when possible (rubber on the asphalt).

Tires

  • Intermediates: light rain, drying track.
  • Full wets: heavy rain, lots of standing water.
  • Switch as soon as the track dries – intermediates are much faster.
